Geylang is home to some of Singapore’s cheapest eats, including supper spots that open till the wee hours of the morning. Hazz Grill, a Muslim-owned stall serving up some of the most affordable and underrated halal Western food you can find, is one of them.
Hazz Grill may be located in the unassuming Jin Ke Xiao Dian coffeeshop along Geylang Road, but its offerings are not to be underestimated.
Diners constantly rave over the Garlic Bread (S$5), that’s served with a creamy blue cheese sauce, and the Buffalo Wings (S$10) which are deep-fried and coated in a sweet, spicy, and tangy hot sauce reminiscent of Korean yangnyum.
The Mushroom Chicken Burger (S$8) with its delectable mushroom ragout may be one of Hazz Grill’s highlights, but the Classic Beef Burger (S$5) is truly the epitome of the phrase “bang for your buck”. You get a homemade cheese-topped beef patty and greens on fluffy brioche buns, with the option of topping up S$1.50 for crispy fries on the side.
Nowadays, S$5 burgers are so ridiculously hard to come by, even at fast food chains.
Otherwise, you’ve got the usual pasta and mains like Mexican Chicken (S$13), Ribeye Steak (S$18), and Cream of Mushroom (S$8). Also, I hear the portions here are very generous.
