Few actually make it to space — in fact, at the time of writing, it’s been recorded that only 244 people in the world have stepped foot into the International Space Station (ISS). Though, thanks to the diligent chronicling of space explorations by NASA, the literal out-of-this-world experience can be extended to us all on Earth.
Virtual Reality-led exhibits
Through the use of virtual reality (VR), you can retrace the footsteps of the first humans on the moon and put yourself through the terror they felt, all behind the safety of VR goggles.
1st Step – From Earth to the Moon
Follow the Apollo programme from the time of its launch to its return to Earth, and experience the panoramic views painstakingly reconstructed from the image archives of the Apollo.
2nd Step – From the Moon to Mars and Beyond
Less chartered territory, this second instalment looks at Apollo 11’s landing on Mars and its less-travelled landscape.
ArtScience on Screen: Beyond Earth
You can also catch films inspired by the vastness and unexplored corners of space, which include animated classics, festival picks, and artist works.
