Waffl is a late-night halal dessert cafe serving savoury waffle burgers, matcha brookies & more in Jurong East

by Christabel Tan

Late-night waffle cravings must be satisfied —perhaps that’s the reason why dessert cafes that open past midnight are aplenty in Singapore.

If you’re a Westie on the lookout for a relatively hidden halal spot to hit up, Waffl in Jurong East is one cafe definitely worth checking out!

The cosy Muslim-owned cafe specialises in unique waffle burgers, gelato, and decadent bakes — they even close at 1am on weekends, so you can easily head on down for your late-night dessert fix!

You can naturally find Gelato (from S$3.60 for Standard Flavour) in rotating flavours like White Chocolate Ripple, Sea Salt Caramel, and Hazelnut Rocher, best enjoyed atop a crisp, piping hot Buttermilk Waffl. (S$4.90).

However, the savoury offerings are a little more interesting. You can opt for either a Waffl Burger or Wrap, in flavours like Mashed Tuna, Smoked Salmon, Kimchi Chicken, and more.

McSpicy lovers can go for the Spicy Chicken Waffl Burger (S$9.90), which comprises a spicy chicken thigh drizzled with mayo and nacho cheese, lettuce, and tomato, sandwiched in between two waffles (in place of the usual burger buns).

All burgers and wraps are served with a side of Cheesy Chips, which are also available in regular a la carte portions at S$4.60 for Cheesy Chips In A Basket.

But this is a dessert cafe after all, and if the sweetest of treats are what you seek, Waffl has got you covered with a selection of chunky Cookies (S$5.50) and Brookies (a cross between a cookie and a brownie, S$5) created in collaboration with online halal bakery 3 Boys Dough.

Choose from fun flavours like Oreo Kreme Cheese, Rocky Road, and Matcha — all guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Wash everything down with a speciality drink or two — you can opt for Vanilla, Hazelnut, or even Macadamia syrup to be added to the signature Matcha Lava Milk (S$6).

Now you no longer have to rack your brains the next time you hang out in Jurong East past dinnertime!
